The low-temperature plywood drying kiln is a specialized low-temperature and humidity-controlled drying equipment designed for the characteristics of plywood in production. Its core working principle lies in achieving slow and uniform drying of plywood through low-temperature hot air circulation combined with precise humidity regulation, thus avoiding defects such as cracking, delamination, and warping of the boards caused by high temperatures. Its workflow is divided into three core stages: preparation, drying, and finishing, with specific steps as follows:
I. Preparation Stage: Kiln Loading and Parameter Setting
Board Pretreatment
Classify the glued plywood blanks or finished boards by specification, and remove boards with surface damage or uncured adhesive layers. Adopt a layered stacking method and place spacers between the boards to ensure ventilation gaps, preventing uneven drying due to stacking.
Kiln Loading Operation
Transport the stacked plywood into the drying kiln by forklift or conveyor belt. The boards should be placed parallel to the air ducts inside the kiln and kept at a certain distance from the kiln walls and fans to ensure hot air can pass evenly through the board stacks. Close the kiln door and check its sealing performance to prevent hot air leakage.
Parameter Setting
According to the thickness, initial moisture content, and target moisture content of the plywood, set the drying temperature, relative humidity, hot air speed, and drying cycle through the kiln's control system. Properly extend the drying time for thick boards.
II. Drying Stage: Low-Temperature and Humidity-Controlled Circulation Drying
This is the core link, divided into three sub-stages: preheating and humidity adjustment, constant-rate drying, and falling-rate drying. The whole process is monitored in real time by temperature and humidity sensors with automatic parameter adjustment:
Preheating and Humidity Adjustment Stage
Start the hot air system of the drying kiln, slowly raise the temperature inside the kiln to the set low temperature, and adjust the humidity to an appropriate range at the same time to preheat the plywood. This allows the moisture inside the boards to gradually migrate to the surface, avoiding surface condensation or adhesive delamination caused by a sudden temperature rise.
Constant-Rate Drying Stage
Maintain the temperature within the set range and gradually reduce the humidity. Start the circulating fan to make the hot air pass through the board gaps at a stable speed. At this time, the moisture on the plywood surface evaporates rapidly, and the internal moisture continuously supplements the surface, keeping the drying speed stable. It is necessary to monitor the dehumidification system in real time and discharge the evaporated water vapor out of the kiln in a timely manner.
Falling-Rate Drying Stage
When the moisture content of the plywood drops to the pre-target value stage, the evaporation rate of surface moisture slows down, and the drying is dominated by internal moisture migration. At this time, appropriately lower the temperature and adjust the humidity to a reasonable range to slow down the drying speed, avoiding cracking caused by an excessive moisture content gradient between the inside and outside of the boards. Detect the moisture content of the plywood in real time through a moisture sensor, and stop the hot air heating when the target value is reached.
III. Finishing Stage: Cooling and Kiln Unloading
Cooling and Humidity Adjustment
Turn off the heating system, keep the circulating fan running, and introduce room temperature air into the kiln to slowly reduce the temperature inside the kiln to room temperature. At the same time, adjust the humidity to a level close to the external environment to allow the plywood to adapt to the outside environment and prevent board warping caused by sudden temperature changes.
Inspection and Acceptance
After opening the kiln door, randomly select plywood from different positions and use a moisture meter to detect the moisture content to ensure the overall moisture content deviation meets the standard. At the same time, check the board surface for defects such as cracking, delamination, and warping, and only unload the boards after they pass the inspection.
Kiln Unloading and Sorting
Remove the qualified dried plywood from the drying kiln by forklift, stack them by specification and mark them clearly, then transfer them to subsequent processes such as sanding and edge sawing. Clean up the residual wood chips and debris inside the kiln, and inspect the fans, sensors, heating system and other components to prepare for the next drying operation.
Supplementary: Core Advantages of Low-Temperature Drying
Compared with high-temperature drying, the low-temperature plywood drying kiln can maximize the retention of the adhesive strength and board flatness of plywood through mild temperature and humidity regulation, making it particularly suitable for thick plywood, decorative plywood and other products with high requirements for appearance and performance.
